TFU's Secret Apprentice Named & A PC Explanation Posted By Mike on July 26, 2008
NZGamer.com is reporting that we have a name for Darth Vader's secret apprentice in The Force Unleashed and it's Starkiller. You might remember that this is the original last name George Lucas had intended to use for Luke's last name in A New Hope.
NZGamer also asked producer Dan Wassson about the lack of a PC version of the game. See below for his response:
For us, ultimately it was... technologies like Pixelux, DMM (Digital Molecular Matter) and Euphoria are so processor intensive and powerful that the kind of machine you'd need to run them is not the kind of machine most people are going to have. It's such an advanced spec that we feel we really needed to do it justice. If we pulled that stuff out and delivered a sub-par experience...
We also felt that was a wrong approach as people are going to miss out on this. We didn't want to do it [the PC version] half-way. Every platform is getting a great game and they should all be able to stand-alone; we didn't want to deliver a sub-par experience for PC gamers."
Thanks to Kartikay and "MrDeflok" for the heads up!
UPDATE: Our friend Andrew with EUCantina.net, sent over the following:
"I just wanted to let you know that I got in touch with Lucasarts' Adam Kahn and was told that "“I can confirm that “Starkiller” is the Secret Apprentice’s code name in the game, but we haven’t revealed his real name.”"
Thanks Andrew!
UPDATE #2: Just a few more TFU related links from NZGamer.com:
UPDATE #3:ForceUnleashed.org has listed the true name of the Secret Apprentice as Jacob Nion. Their source is Wookieepedia and they state that this is known due to the TFU book having already been released in Germany. No official confirmation but fun speculation all the same.
