DustinCropsBoy.com Swoops In Feb. 1st
Posted By Dustin on January 26, 2008
DustinCropsBoy.com is a “tshirt of the month” site dedicated to Star Wars fans who are not only looking for something fresh and new, but also want to directly contribute their own unique views and ideas to our final products! How is this done? Each month, fans submit their original tshirt designs based on the Star Wars Saga. These fan-created designs are then voted on by the fans and the winning design gets printed by MonkeyInADryer.com and made available to purchase for a limited one time only run! The winning designer gets a CASH prize of $250, a free t-shirt of their winning design, and cool DustinCropsBoy.com swag!
Who is dustincropsboy? Creator, Dallas "Dustin Crops Boy" Poague, owner of Monkey in a Dryer and Art "Brak's Buddy" Andrews, the forum moderator, both are Star Wars enthusiasts who have been involved in many SW projects over the years. Art Andrews owns the Boba Fett costuming community site, "The Dented Helmet" (www.thedentedhelmet.com). Dallas Poague and his screen printing company, Monkey in a Dryer (www.monkeyinadryer.com) have been printing t-shirts for The Dented Helmet and other Star Wars/sci fi fan groups for many years. DustinCropsBoy.com was created to build an online community of Star Wars fans who can showcase their design talents and to provide fresh, new and unique Star Wars T-shirt designs that you can't get anywhere else.
UPDATED: I know everyone had to of seen this one coming. The website has been served a cease & desist order from Lucasfilm. So they have indeed shut down until further notice. We've learned a few things today from this. One, that Lucasfilm still reads our website, and two, they know how to get a C&D out ASAP! Plus, I did not post the news because my name is in the URL as Steve Sansweet suggested. ;-)
On a more serious note I think it would benefit both the Star Wars community and LFL if they could reach an agreement with these two talented fans. I think it is a great idea and should be explored further. We're tired of having to pay $50+ for cool T-shirt designs imported from companies in the UK. Give these guys a chance!
